As single page course outlines evolve into multi-page course guides, professional-looking presentation becomes increasingly important. Organize the outline for students through the use of headings and subheadings, bolding, and the use of white space. Use clip art, photos, etc to improve the look and effectiveness of your outline. For example, instead of just providing the title of the course text, go on-line and download it's cover for inclusion in the outline; not only does the cover art lend visual interest to your course outline, it actually assists students to correctly identify the required text and edition. Where one has a course reader or on-line modules, the logos or photos or clipart associated with particular readings/modules may be turned into thumbnails for inclusion in the course outline to assist students in keying the schedule of topics to the day's assigned reading.
